General

  • City-Drop hires trucks and commercial vehicles without an agency! Our vehicles are self-service on the street or at our partners' premises.

    Use our interactive map to find the nearest pick-up or drop-off point.

  • City-Drop has chosen to limit the number of professional intermediaries and to empower its users to offer you one-way trips at a reduced rate.

    For instance, the user who makes a trip from Paris to Marseille drops the vehicle directly in Marseille at the address given upon booking, so that another user can travel from Marseille in his turn. This is all carried out without an agency, but using our free mobile app and our "connected vehicle" technology, to drop it off easily.

  • All our commercial vehicles, from 3 to 20m3, only require a B driving license.

    Translated foreign permits are also accepted.

  • City-Drop rental contracts include up to 3 drivers. This is included in the price! 

    You can add your additional drivers in your customer area, in "Ongoing reservations", by clicking on "Details".

  • To allow you travel with peace of mind, all our rates include insurance covering Civil Liability for any damage caused to third parties or to the vehicle, with a basic "absolute" excess of 2,500 euros. This amount can be reduced by taking additional insurance upon booking (see General Rental Conditions).

  • The guarantee deposit is an amount that is blocked on your bank account to cover any damage that may occur during your rental. Depending on your bank, it may be necessary to have the funds in your account.

    The deposit is done online, at least 48 hours before the beginning of your rental (you will receive an email as soon as the deposit is available in your customer area).

    The amount of the deposit corresponds to the amount of the excess, and can be reduced by subscribing to an additional insurance.

  • The absolute excess represents the maximum amount to be paid by the user in case of damage to the vehicle with or without a third party. (see excess table)

    In case the user is designated as not responsible by our insurer following an accident with a third party, the latter will not be liable for the excess. 

    • Example 1, the vehicle is damaged due to an accident without an identified third party, the amount of the repairs is 3,500 euros, the user will only be liable for the amount of the contractual excess. (Except exclusion of guarantee by our insurer, see General Insurance Conditions)
    • Example 2, the vehicle is damaged due to a responsible accident with an identified third party, the amount of repairs amounts to 3500 euros, the user will only be liable for the amount of the contractual excess. (Except exclusion of guarantee by our insurer, see General Insurance Conditions)
    • Example 3, the vehicle is damaged due to an accident without an identified third party, the amount of repairs amounts to 150 euros, the user will only be liable for the 150 euros related to the repair. (Except exclusion of guarantee by our insurer, see General Insurance Conditions)

  • Insurance contracts always have exclusions of guarantee. Thus, the damage caused on the upper parts of the vehicle are never covered and remain at the expense of the tenant. To find the insurance details, check our General Insurance Conditions and Special Insurance Conditions.

  • The basic excess is 2,500€. Upon booking, you can choose additional insurance and reduce your excess to 1,200 euros or 450 euros depending on the option. 

    For your information, if you have not done so upon booking, you can purchase additional insurance upon making your deposit online, 48 hours before your trip begins.

  • Yes, all passengers are insured during your trip. All our vehicles are limited to three passengers. (see General Insurance Conditions).

  • Our utility vehicles do not have a back seat, which is one of the exceptions to the Highway Code, allowing children under 10 years of age to be placed in the front seats, with a car seat corresponding to their age/weight. (Please note: our vehicles do not have the "Isofix" system to install car seats).

    For young children, you must install the car seat with the back to the road, ensuring that the airbag is deactivated. Failure to comply with these conditions could result in a fine in case of control.

  • Yes, do not hesitate to reduce the cost of your trip by sharing the road expenses with other travelers.

  • All City-Drop contracts include a 24/7 assistance in case of breakdown. Take the vehicle's papers (available on the mobile app), and call the Assistance number, available in the app.

    Remember to take pictures of the vehicle before the breakdown service to finalize your exit inventory.

  • Yes, all our vehicles are insured for travel in the Schengen area (Germany, Belgium, France, Luxembourg, Netherlands, Austria, Sweden, Finland, Spain, Portugal, Italy, Greece, Denmark, Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania, Hungary, Poland, Czech Republic, Slovenia, Slovakia, Malta, Iceland, Norway, Switzerland and Liechtenstein), and the United Kingdom.

  • You can cancel your reservation from your customer area on our website, in the "My orders" section. Please note that depending on the cancellation date, you may be charged a cancellation fee. Please consult our General Conditions of Rental, paragraph "10 Cancellation or modification of booking".

Vehicles

  • Our utility vehicles are equipped with a box connected to the mobile network that allows them to communicate with the City-Drop mobile app. This technology enables you to geolocate your vehicle at the beginning of your rental, to unlock it with your smartphone, to make the inventory in autonomy... It is very easy to use, all you need is a smartphone to pick up the van at the beginning of the rental! The rest of the journey is done with the key, as with your own vehicle.

  • Our Android and IOS compatible app can be downloaded for free from Apple store or Google Play.

  • To log in to our app, use the email address and password of your City-Drop account.

    In case you have forgotten your password, create a new one by clicking on "Forgot password" on the login screen.

  • A few minutes before your rental starts, the app will allow you to locate the vehicle, take a picture, and then unlock it. You will then be able to pick up the key in the box provided for this purpose inside the van. Make sure that Bluetooth is activated on your smartphone for the proper functioning of the app. 

  • The inventory is done through pictures with the City-Drop mobile app. Connect to the app with your email address and your password (the ones you use on our website www.city-drop.com), and once in front of the vehicle, click on "enter my reservation" and then on "make my inventory to unlock the vehicle". The app will tell you exactly which pictures to take. You can also add written comments if you wish.

  • City-Drop vehicles are parked either on the street or at our partner Norauto. You will find the information upon booking, as well as on your rental contract, in the summary emails and in your customer area.

    30 minutes before the start of your rental, the City-Drop mobile app allows you to precisely locate your vehicle in the area you chose at the time of booking. The pick-up zone is specified in the summary emails of your booking, on your rental contract, or in your customer area on our website. The app will indicate to you the precise address and the registration plate of the vehicle assigned to you.

  • The vehicle must be dropped off in the street indicated to you upon reservation.

    You can find this information in the summary emails of your order, in your rental contract or in your customer area on our website www.city-drop.com.

    Parking must be done on a free place, and in a way that does not constitute a danger for users. Alternatively, you can park your car in one of the marked parking spaces of our partner Norauto.

    Is considered dangerous: insufficient visibility, stopping or parking near intersections, turns, coast tops and level crossings.

    The areas indicated offer a large number of spaces and allow you to park relatively quickly.

    Parking in an unauthorized area may result in additional charges.

  • 30 minutes before your rental starts, you will find the exact address of your vehicle and its registration plate on the City-Drop mobile app. Once in front of the vehicle, take the 8 inventory pictures so that the application can unlock it. Once unlocked, and during the rest of your rental, start and close the vehicle with the key you will find in the glove box..

  • You will pick up your vehicle with at least a quarter of a tank of fuel. 

    City-Drop operates on a level-to-level basis, meaning that each renter must return the vehicle with the same level of fuel as when they started their rental.

    To help you know how many liters of fuel you need to add at the end of your trip, you will find below, as an example, information regarding the gauge by vehicle category and model:  

    • 3m3: tank capacity 60 liters ->  1 line / 4 = 15 L (all models)
    • 6m3: tank capacity 70 liters -> 1 line / 4 = 17,5 L (Ford Custom and Peugeot Expert) or 1 line / 12 = 5,8 L (Opel Vivaro)
    • 12m3: tank capacity 90 liters -> 1 line / 4 = 22,5 L (Ford Transit and Citroën Jumper) or 1 line / 8 = 11,25 L (Opel Movano)
    • 17m3: tank capacity 90 liters -> 1 line / 4 = 22,5 L (all models)
    • 20m3: tank capacity 100 liters -> 1 line / 4 = 25 L (all models)

    In case of return with insufficient fuel level, you will be charged for each missing liter, according to the General Conditions of Rental.

  • In case of a problem accessing the utility vehicle, you can contact us at +331 55 49 00 40, from Monday to Friday from 8am to 10pm, on Saturday until 8pm, and on Sunday by email [email protected]. Our teams can unlock your vehicle remotely.

    In case of a failure or an accident, the vehicle's papers are available in the app. Please contact the 24/7 assistance at the “Contact Assistance” number available in the app.
